Cybercafe and porn

Slamming door on porn opens others (the Star In.Tech 21 June 2005 pg 3)

Malaysian government rules that all cybercafe to install software for blocking access to online pornography. Some argue that it is equivalent to Internet censorship while some say it is not.

Content filtering = an option for a computer owner to decide what type of content they wish to allow or avoid. (involves instaling relevant software on the PC to prevent access to undesirable websites)

Censorship = a mandatory restriction imposed from above by the authorities. (the filtering mechanisms are implemented at the ISP)
